Playground Score Card

July 9th, 2007

The Eagle-Tribune has created an online “Playground Score Card” which allows you to search for playgrounds in various towns of the North Shore of Massachusetts. The map feature is very cool– it uses Google Maps, and you can zoom in to particular communities. When you click on a pin-point, the review for that playground appears below the map.

Some northern towns have playgrounds listed, with no reviews, but almost all of the local favorites have detailed reviews and pictures.

Update (June 18th, 2008): The playground score card doesn’t seem to be working using the Firefox browser, although I have gotten it to work in Safari and Internet Explorer. If this bothers you, as it does me, you should buy the “Playgrounds of the North Shore” Book and use it to find cool places to play.

Playgrounds of the North Shore

July 2nd, 2007

A local dad has self-published a book called the Playgrounds of the North Shore. I’ve seen it offered at local stores all over the area. Well, the second edition is out, and has its own web page, http://www.visualvoices.net/publications/. The author, Ejyo Katagiri, also has a blog, http://playgrounding.blogspot.com/, where you can read additional reviews and learn about the trials and rewards of publishing and publicizing your own book.

Thanks, Ejyo, for leaving a comment and telling us about your book!
